Bulletcreek Ranch Dairy Goats

History behind Bulletcreek Ranch

The year 2000 began with my husband Mark and I settling in the picturesque mountains of Tennessee. Pure clean air, brilliantly clear streams and endless stretches of undeveloped mountains rolling over one upon the other until they reached the horizon filled our spirits and inspired us to etch our lives into this beautiful land.

A little while later an opportunity came to our little ranch, when we acquired a few pigmy goats. Well, little did we know that this would seal our fate? This was a creature that loved the hills and rocks, trees and fresh air as much as we did. To make a long story short, after some struggles with making a wild and contrary pigmy doe into a willing partner on the milk stand by working some goat whisperer charms (in the form of patience and cookies) I was hooked.

My pigmy was a rare find, being a big milker for her small stature, but alas, she was unable to freshen the following year. This led to the search for some more appropriate Nubian grade does. Along with my own experiences and the help of my wonderful friends, Debby Born and Pat Watkins of Wild Heaven Nubians, I had found a breed that so well filled my needs. I had also found the much needed friendship and mentors that we all must find to make our quest for knowledge and personal improvement successful. Thank you so much girls, for all you have done.

Along with this experience, came the urge improve upon what I had going. I was blessed to have an opportunity to purchase some purebred does that I had admired for some time, so I jumped at the chance. The Walnut-Spring-Farm does were the product of a gentleman named Stuart Brink, who has since passed away. I never had the opportunity to thank him for his efforts. These does carried some strong old lineage, including the Cadillac, Frosty Marvin, Longwood and Briarknoll. Of course at the time I had no idea what this meant. I just new I like the looks of them and loved their sweet disposition.

After attending Nationals in 2007  and a few shows with my own animals, I started to understand the direction my breeding would need to go to achieve my goals.

We have since been adding complimentary genetics to our breeding program and freshening the daughters of these crosses, to see the results first hand.  The proof is in the product, and as we strive to achieve a quality and consistent product our knowledge and experience is growing as well.

I hope this history has given you an opportunity to get to know us better.

I feel it is important to know whom you are dealing with. I am the first to acknowledge there are many others who are more knowledgeable and experienced than myself. I will continue to do my best to learn from them and apply this knowledge in a way that will benefit not only myself, but others as well. I do not want to present myself as an expert. I am very much in the learning process, but I do know what I like.

I vow to diligently do my utmost to assure the good health and quality of the animals, which I breed and sell. I will also respect the fact that all creatures are of value and deserve a decent life, for whatever time they are with us.

With this in mind I feel we as breeders all have the right to refuse services if we feel that need is justified. I also realize that without the people that have an interest in these things we hold so dear, there is no future. My desire is that we all have animals we can appreciate and love, and the knowledge and ability to sustain a long relationship with them and the people who draw is together.

Good Luck and God Bless
